A recent report published by BIA/Kelsey, predicts that U.S. social advertising revenue will reach $11 billion by 2017. This marks a sizeable increase from $4.7 billion in 2012.Along with continued interest from consumers, new products are credited with driving the highest revenue. Although traditional display forms of advertising remain dominant, more sophisticated formats such as video and content based marketing are set to become areas of high growth. Native ads placed in news streams of Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin are emerging as a favoured method of engaging with customers.
Also driven by Facebook and Twitter is mobile social advertising.
